7 questions to The Kribo Brothers

Guruguru Brain - Can you tell us who you are & where are you from?
Kribo Brother - I’m Maggot, founder/producer of Kribo Records. Originally from Singapore but now relocated in Bali. The Kribo Brothers is initially Kribo Records’s house band. 99% of Kribo Records’s tracks are played by The Kribo Brothers.

GGB - What are the main themes running through the singles?
KB - The theme is Summer, but summer doesn’t mean happy. It could be a mellow, sad music. The good thing about this record is u can play it both 33 and 45. It will totally change the mood!

GGB - Where did the track titles come from?
KB - Basically ‘Pagi’ means morning and ‘Sore’ means evening.

GGB - Is there a feeling or vision you want people to experience when listening?
KB - First track ‘Pagi’ is an upbeat number. It means morning, my favorite time of the day. I’m really a morning person. 5 am coffee, get my longboard and ride my vintage Honda’s to the beach. It's literally my daily routine. Surfing first light, witnessing sunrise every single day from the water is one of the most amazing things I see everyday. While 2nd track ‘Sore’ which means evening, or sunset time. I would say sunsets are the saddest time of the day for me. Its like the end of a good day, or end of something. I’m definitely a day person haha. Watching sunset, drinking beer, also makes you think, about anything, usually the down sides hahaha. Idk, its just the sunset mood.

GGB - Were there any vision that you had in your mind when you’re making the singles?
KB - Its basically like a journal reflection, but in terms of sound forms, no words. Me feeling so grateful that I can still live another day.

GGB - Were there any interesting stories or ideas from your past that fed into these tracks?
KB - 2023 was a year of ebb and flow, the hardest year for me.

GGB - Were there any interesting things happening in your personal life that fed into these tracks?
KB - Another big influence on this record is also my new born. How he made me a better person, and driving my creativity, etc. Idk actually how to explain but its just magical. Its the best thing that happened to me in my life. I would like to dedicated this record to my son, Ziggy Smith.
